Keep it on the road!
Obama’s newest spiel is to compare the economy to a car that has run off the road into a ditch. Obama and his fellow democrats have to get into the ditch and get all muddy and dirty while getting it back on the road, while the Republicans watched. Then he makes sure to take the keys away from the Republicans.
Obama, you idiot, the reason the Republicans watched you pull that car out of the ditch is because that wasn’t their car, that was your car. It was a 2009 Special Flaming Liberal model. It didn’t work too well though. The speed of recovery was really slow and when you opened up the hood you could see that it was really way underpowered. It finally ran out of gas and coasted off into the ditch.
The Republicans though, they have a brand new Supercharged High powered model on order. It’s a 2013 model and it comes out in November 2012. A big down payment is going to be made this November, with the remainder of the payment to be made two years later. That baby is going to rocket too!
Obama and fellow dems, I suggest you walk on the sidewalk. The road won’t belong to you any longer.

Not taking sides here…but this economic disaster we are is a combination of Republican and Democrat screw ups and yes, we,Joe Public have some skin in the game too…so when you say speed of the recovery, it took us 10-15 years to get into this mess, there is a perception that we should “fix it” in say 1 to 2 years, that is just not going to happen….that being said, Obama’s policies of more government and we are here to help is certainly not the answer…the market driven consumer economy will eventually right itself, but five years is a more realistic result, do not think us Americans are that patient, as I expect the Republicans will gain in Nov 2010, but that tells me we will have two years of stalemate while the economy and America bears the brunt of this…stagnation and deflation, a dangerous mix…and China grows stronger every day…bring back Ronald Reagan
1I agree that its not the speed of the recovery we should worry about with Obama, as much as what he is doing. His polices are sliding us deeper into the ditch, not helping us get back on the road. Mainly I’m just sick of him blaming everything on Bush. Yes Bush failed in some areas but guess what, he’s not the President anymore!

4Give me a break. Classic economic theory is that during a recession Government spending has to step in to replace the spending decline of people and business.
What was Bush’s excuse for doubling the national debt?
He took a budget surplus and doubled the national debt.
Obama inhereted a 1.3 trillion deficit (Bush’s last fy deficit) and you expect miracles.
As far as Reagan, he started this mess by, in Dick Cheney’s own words, “proving that deficits don’t matter.” I didn’t vote for Carter (yes TM that is true) because I believed in balanced budgets. And Reagan turned his back on his promise to balance budgets and made “borrow and spend” the GOP mantra.
Tax and spend or borrow and spend, the motherf&%&%’s still spend. The dems to their special interests, the GOP to their special interests…..
Same coin, different side.
Unless you put defense, social security, and Medicare “on the table” you are all just rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic……….
5Yes great theory, especially when spending on such wonderful things as 1) new windows for a CLOSED visitors center 2) Money spent at UNCC to study a youtube project for dancers 3) money spent on testing how monkeys react to Cocaine usage 4) the list goes on and on!
I also like how projects that were already underway, so presumably already funded, suddenly had Stimulus signs stuck in the ground. This happened on highway construction near my house. I’m sure that was an isolated incident though, right??

7Squid there are a number of strong potential candidates out there. I’m not going to try to guess who it will be. Again the point is Obama is so busy blaming everyone else he is making it easy for practically anyone to be a superstar!!
8Good point about the Chinese. I have talked to two very respected businessmen who have dealings with China and they are both blown away by the progress and momentum of the Chinese. One is a major Wallstreet investment banker who is personal friends with Dick Cheney (so no liberal) and he says there is no doubt that they will be the financial center of the world in 20 to 30 years.
While we dither around, China is kicking ass. They say our airports and infrastructure look third world compared to theirs…..
9I have no doubt they are rapidly building new infrastructure. Do you know why thats possible? You do dont you? Yes! No government oversight telling them how to do it! just do it. Of course thats why so many of our home built since 2005 are having to be gutted because of such fine producs as Chinese Dryboard, which is decomposing into sulpher gas.

If they did, we wouldnt be replacing half the wallboard that was installed the last 5 years, which came from China. Unfortunately we have become too much in debt to China. You are making that the equal of $1.3 trillion with no end in sight? What kind of inflation rate are you using? By the way, you’re that one that says Bush inherited Clinton’s surplus. If you are going to stick the FYE 2009 deficit on Bush, then you have to stick the FYE 2001 results on Clinton, and yes that was a deficit. You’ve got to be consistent. Thusly, by your logic, Bush inherited Clinton’s deficit.
Secondly, this kind of stupid spending might be classic Keynesian theory, but it has never worked. This is almost an exact repeat of Hoover-Roosevelt. Hoover spent like a drunken sailor in the early 30s and Roosevelt doubled down..and the results were a disaster. Bush and Obama are simply the new millenium version…dumb and dumber. I label Obama as dumber because he adding anti-business rhetoric and regulation to his spending. Why in the world would any company be hiring right now. By the time this guy is done, he is going to make us long for the Jimmy Carter years.

A 6% inflation rate translates a a 1982 $200b budget deficit into a 2010 $1T. I bet as a % of GDP it was as big……..
The massive spending of WW2 brought us out of the Depression. It wasn’t the “war” it was the spending.

36My point is that in a backrupcy, the unions don’t have priority over secured creditors. Obama trampled that. As to your doctors, nobody’s making them work for free. Nobody is forcing them to have privileges. They made the business decision to do that..taking the good with the bad. The real tragedy is that I bet the people for whom they are doing free work are more likely to sue them than the paying patients.

Currently the dems have the presidency and both houses of congress, so they won the majority and get to make the laws.

1) Obama’s mother was white so I really don’t think that “he hates whitey”. His white grandparents raised him. One stupid comment re: Boston does not a “hate whitey’ make.
2) The 95% of blacks who voted for him are more than offset by the 95% of oil and gas executives, haliburton executives/shareholders, and health drug company employees who voted for Bush. Need I remind you of oil and gas leases given away under Bush, no-bid contracts to Haliburton, and a law which says that Medicare is NOT allowed to negotiate drug prices. NOT ALLOWED.
3) And I don’t think he hates “big business”. He continued the Bush policy of bailing out GM for goodness sakes. And do you not think that wallstreet needed reform? We had 0 financial crisis from the mid 1930′s to the mid 1980′s. Then in the 1980′s we had the S&L, then three or four more since.
4) And Obaman isn’t raising your taxes. Bush and the GOP controlled congress passed a 10 year tax break which is expiring next year. Your complaint is with them. They did a cynical ploy to hide the true cost of the tax breaks (40% which went to the richest 1%) and now they are trying to blame Obama. That is rich.
5) The major restribution of wealth in this country isn’t from rich to poor, it is from our children and grandchildren to senior citizens. I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again: give me a definitive plan to balance the budget (which MUST involve massive cuts to defense, social security, and medicare: do the math) and I’ll stand with you. Other than that it is all talk.
6) As for Nixon and healthcare, my point isn’t that it was right or wrong, just that relative to the early 70′s we are much less liberal in our thinking. Nixon once proposed a guaranteed income for everyone for Christ’s sake. So relative to where we have been, we are much more conservative. Ergo, this isn’t the begining of the Apocoplyse, just a pendulim swing..
7) There I have had my say, now I wait with baited breath for a posting on how arrogant Obama is for having the Oval Office redecorated (private foundation funds) even though every president from Reagan on has done it. I think it was tone deaf, but I’m not sure even I could have sat in a office with sunburst yellow carpeting for too long………
