Was he Humbled?
I was listening to President Obama give his “My fellow democrats got their butts handed to them” speech today, and three letters came to my mind and those were WTF! He’s blabbering about having congratulated John Boehner and how he hopes that they can all cooperate together because America doesn’t need another two years like we have had the past two.
He speaks of cooperation but where was cooperation when he and the Democrats rammed a “stimulus” package down our throats. Ditto when they did the same thing with the Health Care bill.
He speaks of honesty but where was that honesty when for months; he talked about transparency in his administration. He talked about putting the Health Care hearings on CSpan while Democrats and Republicans both sat around a table a hammered out a plan. What happened? None of that! Instead we get thousands of pages cobbled together with the (soon to be Ex) Speaker Pelosi telling us “We need to pass the bill so we can see what’s in it”. Forget about putting it out there for public review so that we could see it and discuss with our legislators. No just ram it through while the votes are hot.
He was asked if the Republican Tidal Wave was a mandate from the people against him. Well of course, Mr. Obama, being smarter than all the rest of us had to tell us why we voted out so many Democrats. It’s because he inherited a large deficit ( yes he still is blaming Bush) and the “emergency situation required an emergency response” that had to be pushed through rapidly. Americans voted him in because they were tired of the way things were done in Washington and he did this the same old way. We confused his emergency response with a “big agenda”. Again we are not as smart as him, and we are confused.
He did say that different elections bring different emotions. Some leave you excited, some leave you humbled. He never did say he was humbled though. I don’t know if we can ever expect a straight answer from him but I do know two things. He thinks he is smarter than anyone else, so therefore everyone else is supposed to accept his answers at face value. He is and always will be blameless. After all its Bush’s fault.

There isn’t anything he could have said that you wouldn’t have complained about.
When the majority party passes legislation, how do you consider that “ramming it down” someone’s throat? That is the way it works. You sound like my 12 year old son complaining about his parents making him clean his room. I tell him when he has his own place, he doesn’t have to clean it. When y’all have the majority in both houses and the presidency, then you can pass your legislation as well. You had it and you used it to increase the deficit and spending. thanks for nothing.
Here is a classic GOP comment. The former GOP Illinois Gov Jim Thompson was interviewed and asked what the GOP did right to win so big. “It was more about what the Dems did wrong….economy, jobs, unemployment, blah, blah”
Then when asked about the prospects for Illinois if the GOP candidate (Bill Brady) wins, he said:
“Illinois has problems long in the making, and Bill Brady won’t be able to fix them in 1 or 2 years, it will take 3 or 4 …”
But Obama should have fixed everything nationally by now?!!?
Two wars, $1.3T deficit he inherited, but fix it all faster than Illinois………
Yes, we will just forget what he had when he took office. Everything was just rosy and fine. It is all his fault.
1You are wrong Sam. I can think of two words he could say that would make me very happy. ” I quit!”
2By the way, when the speaker of house says a bill must be passed so we cansee what is in it, I consider that a bill being rammed through.
3Well, we should see a drop in the deficit with the millions that will be saved when they take Nancy Pelosi’s plane away from her.
I know this is rather mundane, but you guys covered everything else.
4Well put!
5Sam….I am sorry, Obamo wanted the job, he accepts the hand he is dealt, he wanted change, he has the responsibility. He is beyond arrogant and sticks his nose in the air, as I have said many times, he thinks he was selected to right America’s wrongs in HIS EYES, he wants to equalize us….the GOP and us Americans who do not see things his way are the “enemies”, another WTF
Was Obama humbled, HELL NO…all it does is make him despise his “enemies” that much more….will he listen, HELL NO, he knows more about “us” than we do….and my favorite, Nancy Pelosi, did NOT even offer any congratulations to any Republicans, NOTHING, says alot right there
6First, the Pelosi thing with the plane, stop believing random emails and look at the facts. It is a myth.
Obama: I get it, you think he is arrogant, at some point you need to get over it. If I look back on postings there isn’t a thing this guy can do that you won’t consider arrogant. Goes to the gulf and buys lobster = arrogant. Gives a contrite press conference = arrogant. Ignores polls to get get a healthcare bill = arrogant. But when Bush/Cheney proudly proclaimed their disdain of polls and “public opinion” that equaled a refreshing show of strength.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=maFUXy7U2Nc
Folds his toilet paper instead of wadding it = arrogant.
Y’all are like Mitch McConnel who said yesterday that his #1 priority was to get Obama out of office. Not JOBS, not the DEFICIT, not PROTECTING US FROM TERRORISTS.
He ran on healthcare, he did healthcare. He ran on financial regulation, he did it. Bush ran on Tax Cuts, I didn’t agree with it even though I pay a lot of taxes, but I didn’t think he was arrogant when he got it passed.
Did Obaman f up on thinking that the stimulus, which was one third tax cuts by the way, would have a bigger impact than it did, yes but he passed legislation that he ran on and he had majorities.
Have the American people spoken, yes they have (so much for Obama is a dictator/tyrant/subverter of democracy) and we are all free to draw our own lessons from it. I’m old enough to see the eulogy read for the Dems and GOP many times only to see the other party come back strong.
At some point you just need to move beyond this elite arrogant riff. Maybe come up with some ideas rather than “Obama arrogant act of the day.”
7Sam…YOU, just do not get it man..I look beyond deficits, budgets, etc with my government and president…I want them to stand for America and EVERYONE,protect me and my country, honor the Constitution, let me and others have a chance at the American dream, make us proud, lead but NOT overwhelm us with Government control and regulations, let the free market work….Obama does nothing of the above,NOTHING.
During the Democratic primary, Fox News starting breaking reports of the Reverend Jerimiah Wright, and that he was Obama’s minister, no other network carried, but Fox kept pushing and Obama eventually had to deal with this, he gave that “history of racism ” speech in Philadelphia which was a bunch of fing BS..If the other networks ( part of the Liberal media ) would have carried the same news about Rev Wright and Obama’s 20 yr relationship with his church three months earlier, OBAMA NEVER gets nominated, end of story. When I first heard some of Rev Wright’s sermons I was appalled and was thinking Obama could not have possibly been in this guy’s church every Sunday, but wrong, Rev Wright married him and Michelle, baptized his children, and Barack spent 20 years listening and internalizing this horseshit. His own wife stated in 2008, that for the FIRST time she was proud of America, WTF,,,does that NOT make you go WTF too….Was amazing when Barack had to deal with Rev Wright issue, how quickly he distanced himself, was like “see ya”…another WTF moment, he knew if he did not, was good bye White House, I mean come on.
Obama’s nomination coronation in front of 85,000 was
another WTF moment…he must have seen that as his opportunity to “change” and “fix” America
and…the Harvard professor and the cop, good ol Obama figures this is time for another history lesson on racism, I mean the police were only doing their jobs, period…another WTF moment…his arrogance and elitist tone were amazing
Obama got into office and quickly starts to right OUR wrongs as a country as HE percoeves them, jams em down our throat and says is about time for Amercia to right her wrongs…double, triple FU…he is anti-business, constanly talks about those making over $250k a year, like they are un-American, double and triple FU !!
The % that did not vote for him, are the ENEMIES, that is how Obama views the American public…Tuesday’s results only make that point that much more clear to him, period.
America rose us and spoke loudly, Obama should be thankful that the America he despises has the best document ever written to govern fairly….and like you, He DOES NOT GET IT
8My last comment on the subject: Obama wins the Presidency, the Dems have control of both houses of the Congress. They get to pass the laws they want. The Supreme Court can say they are unconstitutional as they deem. They don’t have to listen to Fox news or opinion polls. Evey two years people get to vote every house member and 1/3rd of the Senate. Every 4 the presidency.
Everything above is perfectly consistent with our Consitution.
What you don’t get is that just because you don’t like those policies he passed, it doesn’t mean he despises the Constitution. The Constitution does not mandate free market solutions to every problem we face. That is a choice left to the political process.
You may devine the will of the people as the healthcare bill went too far. Many people thought it didn’t go far enough.
This country is a Republic, not a democracy, please look up the difference. The will of the people is determined every two years when we vote, not based on Fox, MSNBC, forums like this, or by Tea Party folks who don’t realize that Medicare is a government run program…..
9Sam….I have to ask you, you voted for this mfer…did the Rev Wright issue bother you in the least ?…I mean seriouslly…it bothered me…
Here was an article on Obama’s relationship with the Good Rev :
Pastor inspires Obama’s ‘audacity’
By Manya A. Brachear
January 21, 2007
When he took over Trinity United Church of Christ in 1972, Rev. Jeremiah Wright Jr. was a maverick pastor with a wardrobe of dashikis and a militant message…
Obama, was not a churchgoer at the time, but he found himself returning to the sanctuary of Trinity United. In Wright he had found both a spiritual mentor and a role model…
[Wright] eventually returned to Howard University to finish bachelor’s and master’s degrees in English with a focus on African spirituals. At the University of Chicago Divinity School, he earned another master’s in the history of religions with a focus on Islam…
In his 1993 memoir “Dreams from My Father,” Obama recounts in vivid detail his first meeting with Wright in 1985. The pastor warned the community activist that getting involved with Trinity might turn off other black clergy because of the church’s radical reputation.
When Obama sought his own church community, he felt increasingly at home at Trinity…
Later he would base his 2004 keynote speech to the Democratic National Convention on a Wright sermon called “Audacity to Hope,” – also the inspiration for Obama’s second memoir, “The Audacity of Hope.”
Though Wright and Obama do not often talk one-on-one often, the senator does check with his pastor before making any bold political moves.
Last fall, Obama approached Wright to broach the possibility of running for president. Wright cautioned Obama not to let politics change him, but he also encouraged Obama, win or lose…
10Sam…Have to ask…the “beer in the Rose Garden”, how did it make you feel ?, that the President of the Fing US invites these two guys to Wash DC to have a discussion on racism, over a beer, including the “a-Lister” VP Joe Biden, I mean WTF…again, the police did their job
11Well Sam I was once told by someone that I should be carefuly about posting comments since it is my blog, but after reading some of your comments I have to throw that out the window. Yes Obama is arrogant! I saw again today being asked questions about the elections. He has yet to take any responsibility for the miserable democrat results. It’s all about us scared, impatient, uninformed people that just won’t give him time to straighten out the wretched mess caused by the evil Bush and his minion Cheney.
One thing you are right about is what you said about the majority party “They don’t have to listen to Fox news or opinion polls.” That you are right about Sam. They don’t have to listen. Perhaps though, they should have.
Quite frankly Sam I would expect a little more out of you. Squid made several points and asked questions that you glossed over. I made one myself but to both of us your wordy response boils down to “dont act like a 12 year old, get over it”.
Yes Sam it is arrogant for a President to encourage (by inaction) lawmakers to push through a health care bill and a stimulus bill that no one, not even those voting for it has had the chance to read. My God, the (soon to be ex) Speaker Queen Pelosi says we have to pass it so we can see whats in it. Thats either complete arrogance or complete stupidity, either I take exception with for people charting our future.
Squid brings up the “Rev” Wright issue. First, I no more consider him a Reverend than I consider Johhny Fever a doctor. That aside, his well publicized sermons leave no doubt of his Anti-Americanism. So Obama went there for 20 years. Are we to believe the “Rev” Wright saved those racist, unpatriotic sermons for when Obama was not around?
Squid also brings up the “Beer Summit”. When that news first broke and Obama was asked about it, he talked about the police acting stupidly. Turns out the police were doing their job. I would imagine if someone is trying to get in your front door, you would appreciate the police stopping and asking whats going on. If it turns out it is you trying to get in the house, are you going to get combative with them, and refuse to ID yourself? No you would produce your ID, the officers would say thank you and you the same and that would be the end of it. In this PC world people don’t want to admit that racism exists strongly in all races. The blog I wrote about the fast food experience, I didn’t make that up.
You were right when you said majority party doesn’t have to listen to Fox News or Polls..perhaps though, they should have.
12I was truly going to end it but I guess you are asking questions that I have to answer:
Reverend Wright: old news. He repudiated him. McCain had his crazy preacher, Palin had hers. Obviousily if it was such a big deal to the majority of Americans, he wouldn’t have been elected. I had a friend killed by a drunk driver. Bush/Cheney had 3 DWI’s between them, but you don’t read me bitching about it ad infinitum. Move on.
Beer Summit: Obama was stupid. Shot his mouth off w/out thinking and paid the price. He assumed the cop did something wrong, when he didn’t. My dad said when you assume you make an ASS out of U and ME, and he made an ass out of himself and he realized it. At least he didn’t pop a few beers and go hunting and shoot a guy.
Maybe he should have listened more to Fox news, but he didn’t and because of that, or generalized anger, the Dems lost the House. Democracy in action. The Republic Stands.
At some point y’all just have to move beyond this stuff and worry about jobs and China and India kicking our ass in the 21rst century…..
13You are right Sam we do need to move on. After this week, we are halfway there.
14Sam…move on past this “stuff” ??, the worry is that we have the wrong guy at that wrong time trying to lead us…and one last comment on Rev Wright, Obama himself said he was a “father figure” , a “mentor”…and he sure turned his back on him, says alot about the man himself, the liberal media bailed Obama out…I am tired of his arrogant stance and what he feels he needs to teach us, in two years, his “enemies” will help foreclose on his house, good riddance.
15Remember Obama didnt dump him until it got hot with the news.
16oh…and Sam….India will NEVER kick our ASS, NEVER….China is another story and eventually we will have to deal with them, please,oh,please hopefully when Obama is out of office
…and damn cannot help it Sam, but as the Good Rev said so eloquently…”God Damn America “…I think Obama took him to heart….heaven help us…and you are right Democracy in action wins the first half, and for the sake of the Republic, we , us “enemies” will win the second half
17Squid, I guess you see that China and Brazil are trying to tell us how to fix our economy. While I am not saying we should not look beyond our borders as to the effect of our actions, we certainly cant be mandated by them. Will be interesting to see if the feds back off on their plans because of this.
18Guys:
I think Rush Limbaugh has it right. Whenever Obama walks into a room, he is the least experienced guy in the room. He has surrounded himself with people who have never been in the real world in their life. This is what happens when academia takes over the free world. Even a left wing rag like the NY Times is figuring out that these guys are inept. I really wouldn’t call it arrogance. These guys are complete ideologues and don’t care that their policies seem to making things worse, not better. Sam is right though. This is a republic. If they don’t change, they’ll get wiped in 2012.
19Jeff, you are always right on but I do disagree a little with this one. I think he is arrogant, and that is what keeps him from seeing beyond the academic world he has created around himself.
20There is a real reason he is “Sad Sam” and that Obama is Hussein. Right now, he’s blowing more money in Indodesa that we don’t have. He will get nothing accomplished, nothing.
