Audacity of dopes!
Isn’t it easy to slam “fat paychecks” and “corporate jobs” when you are the recipient of a fat paycheck yourself?
This past weekend, speaking at Oregon State University, Michelle Obama spoke to the graduating class about giving up her fat paychecks and corner office.
I noticed she didn’t discuss giving up her law license though. I have a professional license that hasnt been job required for more than 15 years, but there is no way I would give it up…..voluntarily.

I gave up my CPA license. I was never going to do audits, and didn’t want to screw with the CPE requirements………
1I am so glad someone other than me is now using the term Audacity of Dopes! I have not done pubic accounting in 30 years, but I do pay dues every two years to maintain an inactive license. As for not chasing the big job, please. I think Ayn Rand had it right. There are basically two types of people in this world. Producers and Looters. Michele Obama simply figured out she had a better future as a looter than producer. That was probably the correct decision for her.

3I can’t let it go Dave. When I moved, my wife and I found funeral urns in the attic from my grandfather’s funeral in 1962. If I can’t get rid of those, I am never giving up on the CPA license!
