The Stupidity Never Stops
Meet Matt Mitchell, former Illinois State policeman and bottom feeding
low life scum bag.
The day after Thanksgiving 2007, Mr. Mitchell was rushing to an emergency
on a south Illinois highway, traveling at speeds over 120 mph. And talking
to his girlfriend on his personal cell phone. And sending emails on his in-car
computer. Mr. Mitchell lost control of his squad car and it rolled across the
median, became airborne, and sheared off the top of a car going in the
opposite direction. Two sisters inside the car – Kelli Schlau, 18, and Jessica
Schlau, 13, were killed instantly.
Mr. Mitchell was injured in the accident. He was placed on PAID leave
for two years while recuperating. He resigned his post after pleading
guilty to Reckless Homicide and Reckless Driving. Mitchell received no
jail time.
Mitchell has never apologized to the parents of the two teenagers and in fact
maintains that he was not responsible for the girl’s deaths. WTF?
But now here’s the rub……Mr. Mitchell has filed for Workman’s Compensation
because the accident happened while he was on duty and in the employ of
the State of Illinois. No doubt Mr. Mitchell has visions of lifelong pay checks.
Or perhaps a nice big lump sum settlement. And experts are predicting he will
probably succeed.
Is it just me? Or is this one of the stupidest things you’ve ever heard? I mean,
Mitchell’s recklessness killed two innocent girls. Had he been a civilian, he
would be sitting in prison right now. But he gets no jail time. He gets paid
while he’s recuperating. And now the government is going to reward his
actions with fat pay checks?
I can only hope he gets a judge, or arbitrator, who has the gonads to put
his foot down hard and end this stupidity.
