Diamonds are a girls best friend!
On this day (August 5 1962) Marilyn was found dead of an overdose of sleeping pills. She was a movie star, singer and model. Through her career she recorded many notable songs such as “Diamonds are a Girls Best Friend”, and“River of No Return”, from the movie of the same name. She also she sang “After you get what you want you don’t want It”, and I Wanna Be Loved By You”, just to mention a few.
She did many other songs mostly from the movies she appeared in. I think her most famous performance is when she sang happy birthday to President Kennedy on May 26 1962 only because the media ran with it.
She appeared in approximately thirty three films some she was un-credited for and recorded 23 songs for those movies.
In 1999 she was ranked as the sixth greatest female star of all time.
