Rick Astley – Never Gonna Give You Up
This last weekend 30,000 people descended on a small town just outside of London to attend the “Rewind Festival “dedicated to 80’s music. This event attracted artists such as Kim Wilde, Midge Ure, Banarama, Doctor and the Medics and Rick Astley just to mention a few.
Rick Astley responsible for songs, “Never going to give you up”, “Together Forever”, and “It would Take a Strong Strong Man” was born in Lancashire England in 1966. He has sold more than 40 million records world wide. His hit single Never going to Give you up hit number one in 16 countries, his video of this same song became an Internet phenomenon in 2007 for a meme known as Rickrolling and was voted by Internet users best act ever at the MTV Europe music awards 2008.
When I first heard this guy sing with that bass baritone voice I thought I was hearing an African American singing, boy was I wrong, when I actually saw him perform I could not believe this voice was coming from that body.
In the USA Rick had seven songs in the top 40 billboard song list, two of them at #1
