-Pro government run healthcare- veterans and senior citizens have it, and it works great in Hawaii
-Palin: nothing but a quitter, just went for the money. Wouldn’t vote for her if she was the only person running.
-Get rid of the electoral college, it is antiquated and helped Bush steal the 2000 election, which he lost by 500,000 votes.
-Gays in the military: if they want to serve, let them. This is the United States of America, not the Heterosexual States of America. If they want to serve, say “Thank you.”
-Legalize pot, alcohol is way worse than pot. Instead of spending money against it, tax it.

You are using “liberal” to name call. “Liberal” and “conservative” no longer have any real meaning anymore and are just used to name call and attack.
It used to be conservative to be for small government, now they want to control our bedrooms.

Saw some of Jesse Ventura last night….I liked everything he said until he starts comparing to his former career as a professional wrestler, but he tells the truth brother…..and the movie he made with Ahnald, “The Predator” just rocked, so based on that, lets nominate him….now !!!

First off, it is Sad Sam, not Son of Sam. Sad Sam is the nickname of a character in a book that is required reading at West Point which will be mentioned in a future blog.
And can we all just get over the Reverend Wright deal? Yes Obama lied about not hearing the “crapola” but for every Rev Wright asshole there was an equally nutcase reverend for McCain and Palin (Robertson “God sent Katrina to punish New Orleans for gays at Mardi Gras”, the Palin “exercise the witches” dude, and some other jerk).
As far as Obama being a socialist, when anyone of you says “We should end Medicare and Medicaid” on this blog, then you can call him socialist. Then you have to call Bush an even bigger socialist by action as he expanded Medicare with RX, and bailed out the banks, then he started the auto bailout. I pay $22k a year for healthcare + medicare taxes and I’ll be more than happy to get what senior citizens get. I’m so f’ng tired of old people getting more and more, and our kids getting the bill.
End the Medicare program. There, now I have earned the right to call Bush and Obama socialists.

Pick one or the other and then we can discuss. But to answer your question further, why does it have to be those three. Why dont we cut out welfare, make pork projects illegal, cut congressional pay and benefits, and cut taxes so business will invest and spend. Even Clinton knew that. Oh for the days of Clinton.

#1) Cutting taxes to raise tax revenue has worked so well in the past, not. It didn’t work under Reagan.
#2) You can cut all the welfare, pork and congressional pay you want and you won’t make any sizable dent in the budget. You have to go where the money is, like Willie Sutton said.
I may type like crap, but I’ve been a CPA for 38 years, so I know a little bit about running numbers.

Regarding taxes , Clinton knew to cut them and it did work. ahh Ace, don’t let the facts get in the way. Show me where Clinton cut taxes. In fact after the Reagan tax cuts early in his term, he raised them pretty much every year. Reagan passed the largest tax increase in US history. Bush 41 raised taxes. Clinton raised taxes and Al Gore passed the tie breaking vote. Newt said it would “devastate the U.S. economy and that from here on in, the GOP takes no responsibility for the economy.” And the economy boomed because the markets had hope that we were serious about cutting deficits and not crowding out borrowing.
I am not giving Obama a pass on the deficit, but in times of recession the government has to step in and spend to replace the spending not being done by the private sector. Econ 101. The Great Depression was in part caused because Hoover cut spending, and since nobody was spending we went further downhill. The reason WW2 got us out of the depression was….drumroll please……spending. Massive spending. So, to avoid depression, I guess I’ll take the word of the two Nobel prize winning economists I had at the U of C, and bite the bullet and run deficits in the short term.
Now what the hell is the GOP’s excuse for doubling the national debt from $5T to $11T from 2001 – 2009?
I am completely fiscally conservative, which is why on previous posts I have said to eliminate Medicare, and cut Social Security. Medicaid as well. I haven’t gone there with Defense because we are in two wars, but I have been on record as saying if the troops can risk their lives, and their families can endure their hardships, then the least we can do is pay a few more $’s in taxes to pay for it. Freedom ain’t free. I’d eliminate farm subsidies, and I’d sure as hell stop subsidizing the red states. Oh, and Alaska? Go (*&*% yourself, you got all that oil, pay for your own damn bridge. I’d eliminate the Department of Education, since that is the responsibility of the states.
So Ace, you’ve cut welfare and pork and congressional pay, you got about $800b left. Let’s see if you can actually do more than just attack people, and come up with the rest of the $800b.

Hey Sack you actually got a few things right this time, though you are partially wrong about Clinto. He did cut taxes on certain groups and he cut taxes on small businesses. Also you are agreeing with me as well because I said get rid of pork and that would certainly include the bridge to nowhere. I say states can build their own damn bridges especially if they don’t go anywhere. You are certainly right about the Department of Education. But lets not stop there. Most of the Departments are not neccesary, so lets cut even deeper. Can anyone really say what the Commerce Department does? Agriculture? So Sack we are not so far apart. You are getting there.
I am already there, you are still not anywhere close. I’ll cut Commerce and Agriculture in a heartbeat, but you are still about $750b short of balancing the budget.
You can’t do it without going after Medicare, SS, and Defense….do the math.
So, I’m the so called “just another liberal”, but I’m the only one on this website with the balls to say eliminate Medicare and cut SS (and I’m sure if we didn’t outsource everything to Haliburton, there is upside in Defense spending…..).
Sam, your comment about government run healthcare working great for veterans and senior citizens is a joke. In May 2006 the Washington Post had an article that was issued by the trustees who monitor the fiscal health of the Medicare stating that the health insurance system for the elderly will run out of money by 2018. You know, kind of like where social security is also going, where Freddie and Fanny have already gone. Oh, I know, the best thing to do is to let government run even MORE healthcare. Haven’t you learned by now that the government cannot and will not live within their means? All they do is tax, tax, tax, and then tax some more. It’s NEVER enough. Stop the bureaucracy and let the free market do its job!
